Description
Killer queens rule the board and that’s why it’s vital to understand the nuances of how they move.
And where better to start than in the endgame, where distraction by other pieces is at its minimum.
New in Chess author IM Thomas Willemze brings us this targeted trainer on the most powerful piece on the chessboard – the piece that’s most likely to decide the game at once.
AND it comes with over 2 hours of optional video-sync instruction.
A starter kit for killer queen-play
Winning Endgame Tactics 1 is all about turning your queen-play into a dangerous weapon that finishes off opponents.
You will learn to recognize all the key tactical opportunities and exploit them with simple, but powerful queen maneuvers.
Truly mastering the winning queen maneuvers will make you unstoppable in all phases of the game. To this end, IM Willemze’s new starter course covers tactical combinations that are at most three moves deep to get you up and running.
The first part deals with basic tactical combinations and consists of two sections:
1 ♛ Mate in one move;
2 ♛ Catch the queen in two moves.
In the second part, preparatory moves are added to these basic combinations, leading to the following sections:
3 ♛ Mate in two moves;
4 ♛ Catch the queen in three moves.
The final stage will focus on how to defend ourselves against mating threats. Most tactics books focus on attack; however, chess players must attack and defend equally well.
The final learning unit in the course endeavors to teach students to rebuff an attacking queen.

Even when one of my opponents didn’t follow theory, which often happens with beginners,

Really good course

I appreciate the effort gone into it. It’s helped me become better at my openings and I’m looking forward to what he has next in store. Cheers.

Even above beginner level, knowing the first ten moves is usually sufficient, and the variations in this course average nine moves.
Samuel (verified owner) –
I would never recommend this book to anybody that I would consider a beginner, and maybe not even a “casual” player (depending on the definition).

I’m still a fairly new adult learner and have looked at all the major courses and finally feel like I have an option that makes sense for my level and available time.
