Van Geet was once considered a ‘bad’ opening…
Things changed after Magnus Carlsen started playing Van Geet with great success.
It helped him clinch some key victories in blitz & rapid.
Only 1 out of 780 games begins with Van Geet Opening (1.Nc3).
Out of 300,000 games in the database, 1.Nc3 has a stunning winning percentage of 57.25%!

It is a low-theory opening, offering ultra-rapid development, and… needless to say… most of your opponents will NOT be prepared for it.
There are plenty of traps, so if Black isn’t careful, the game could be over in just 10 moves.
IM Boroljub Zlatanovic played Van Geet for over two decades and scored an insane 68.4% with white pieces! In this quick-start opening course, he’ll share his secrets and help you get your first win in no time!
Here is what you’ll learn:
- The top-scoring 1.Nc3 setup and how to achieve it
- Mastering Favorable Transpositions
- Exploiting the ‘Home-Field Advantage’
- Strategically Losing a Tempo to Secure Optimal Positions

Even when one of my opponents didn’t follow theory, which often happens with beginners,

I appreciate the effort gone into it. It’s helped me become better at my openings and I’m looking forward to what he has next in store. Cheers.

I’ve only reviewed all the black lines but I am liking the author’s approach of adding exercises after each chapter to make sure you are looking at the positions themselves rather than just routinely memorizing the lines without absorbing the content of his commentary.

more importantly, when we have to make an exception to the standard plan, a very good explanation of what would happen if we didn’t do it,
