A venomous weapon against the French Defense
The French Defense can be one of the most irritating openings for 1.e4 players to play against.
The Supercharged Milner-Barry Gambit is no lofty, theoretical repertoire on the French – you’ll learn how to go for the throat with unbalanced, attacking positions that win in practical play.
Your opponent will be dumbfounded when you whip up your attack. It’s an entertaining and potent weapon to keep up your sleeve. And in only 20 lines, you’ll have it down pat.
The Milner-Barry variation of the French starts 1.e4 e6 2. d4 d5 3. e5 c5 4. c3 Nc6 5. Nf3 Qb6 6. Bd3 cxd4, but where you would typically follow up with 7.cxd4, however, we go for 7.0-0.

Why sacrifice the pawn on d4? For more development and energized piece play. Modern engines believe White has more than sufficient compensation for the pawn.
And in practice, it is always easier to attack than defend – the best defense is a good offense.
What’s inside:
🔪Restrict the harmonious development of Black’s pieces by threatening to trap them and by chasing them
🔪Attack Black’s king after castling and offer a Greek Gift sacrifice
🔪Chase Black’s queen away in the Advance Variation (5…Bd7) and plans for early deviations by Black
🔪 Chapters on typical tactics and model games to drive home the concepts taught
Designed for club players – approved by super GMs
This course will teach you what you are most likely to face as a club player, but that doesn’t mean it’s only for club players. Top players such as Magnus Carlsen, Maxime Vachier-Lagrave, and Gawain Jones have all crushed opposition with this opening.
With only about 20 variations and 10 puzzles to learn, you will be outwitting French players in no time.
The course was developed by CM Han Schut and Ben Davar. Davar, a club player and chess writer, carefully curated the comments to make them clear and succinct, while Schut selected the lines and put them to test with top engines.
