Who says the London is boring?
I don’t know why some people think the London is boring. When I started playing it, I suddenly found myself…
* Blowing up my opponents’ defenses with sacrifices like Nxf7 or Bxh7+.
* Storming up the board with my f, g and h-pawns.
* Hacking open Black’s kingside with exchange sacrifices on h5.
And that’s the sort of London IndrekR – one of Chessable’s community authors – is going to teach you.
Not the old-fashioned quiet London System with standard piece placement…but the London Attack!
A Full White Repertoire in 300 Lines!
As club players, the biggest problem we have is time. With other responsibilities in our lives, we only have so much time to devote to our chess improvement.
The London Attack helps with this in two ways.
First, there’s far less to learn. If you play 1.e4, or mainline 1.d4 openings, you’ve got to prepare for all of Black’s mainstream lines having to learn 1000s of lines. But in the London Attack there’s far less theory to know…freeing up more time to work on other elements of your game.
Second, the London produces thematic positions over and over again. That means you’re going to become an expert at playing those positions: you will know the plans, how to execute the attacks, and the common tactics like…
* All the different ways you can strike with the Greek Gift!
* When to surrender the center with the tempo-gaining dxc5!
* What to do if Black goes pawn hunting with …Qb6. – your opponent will have to walk a tightrope for 15 moves…just to get a draw.
* How to get a winning position on move six against Grünfeld setups. (You’ll be amazed how many players have fallen into this trap.)
* The right way to execute Bobby Fischer’s. “Pry open the h-file, sac, sac… mate!” attack if Black plays …g6 and …Bg7.
These things – and much more – are revealed in The London Attack: An Ambitious Repertoire.
What makes this different from other London courses?
Because the London has become so popular recently, there are a ton of courses and videos out there. And, as a London player, I’ve seen the majority of them. So what makes this one different?
I’d say:
#1: The relentless commitment to attacking play. Some authors advocate attacking lines when Black plays Queen’s Gambit Declined or King’s Indian/Grünfeld setups… but then forget about their attacking ambitions against other lines.
#2: The focus on understanding while not shying away from concrete details where necessary, leading to the exactly right amount of lines to have you covered against everything, including tons of novelties!
#3: Full coverage of all the recently in-vogue tricky tries from Black that people have come up with, including early e6, the Apeldoorn variation and the …Bf5 and …Bg4 variations. If you’re an attacking London player, these lines can be the most frustrating to face – because they can lead to dull positions. But IndrekR hasn’t shied away from them. And, by following his very specific move orders, you can get fun, unbalanced positions Black probably isn’t prepared for.
