Tired of the Queen’s Gambit and Catalan
Grinding You to Dust? Hit Back With
This Hybrid Tarrasch Gambit!
You play 1…d5 bracing for a fight — only to get squeezed by the Queen’s Gambit or picked apart by the Catalan’s diagonal pressure? Not anymore! The Fresh Dubov Tarrasch forces a tough choice on White. Suffer lethal lasting pressure on their king’s diagonal, or walk straight into a bold gambit backed by the world’s top 10.
It all started when Daniil Dubov (peak 2720 FIDE) revived the old Tarrasch Defense…

The Tarrasch meets the Queen’s Gambit with
the same ambitious, aggressive center!
Sparking explosions in the center, before overwhelming White’s king with tremendous piece activity!

The Dubov Variation:
You take on d4 early then your bishop
jumps onto the a7-g8 diagonal!

Your typical Dubov Tarrasch game:
A runaway d-pawn, while your
pieces attack from all angles!
But White got smarter.
They began ducking the Dubov Tarrasch by delaying Nc3, then steering the game into a Catalan setup. It’s slow, positional, and completely draining for Black.
That’s where The Fresh Dubov Tarrasch comes in.
It uses a simple move order switch, so that White’s most troublesome line now walks into a GM-approved gambit.
It has been played by Magnus Carlsen (5-time World Champion), Nodirbek Abdusattorov (peak world #4), and Levon Aronian (peak world #2)… taking down 2500 to 2700-rated opposition!
The best part about this gambit? Black’s raging initiative doesn’t stop, even after the queens come off!

White has swapped queens. But they
haven’t relieved the pressure!
Blend the Dubov Tarrasch’s dark-square offense with this Catalan-crushing gambit… and you’ve got a complete, go-getting repertoire against White’s toughest d4-c4 openings.
