Complete the ultimate Open Sicilian repertoire with havoc lines against 2…e6 and 2…Nc6 Sicilians
“You can win a game right out of the opening, so you should fight for every possibility to do so.”
That’s the philosophy of International Master Sebastian Mihajlov, who has put together one of the most thorough and energetic opening 1.e4 repertoires, period.
This course – which completes the Sicilian part of the repertoire – is focused on the 2…e6 and 2…Nc6 Sicilians, such as the Taimanov, Sveshnikov, Scheveningen, and others.

Against all major Sicilians and some sidelines, you’ll go for the most critical approach: the Open Sicilian. This sets the stage for dynamic and ambitious battles.
As the title suggests, this repertoire is all about energetic, attacking chess. Here’s what this can look like:

Against the Scheveningen Variation you will play the dangerous Keres Attack. Black needs to be careful since deadly kingside attacks happen frequently, as seen here.
Even against the most solid approaches by Black, like the Sveshnikov, IM Mihajlov found plenty of attacking ideas. In one of the mainlines, for instance, you can challenge Black by launching your h-pawn up the board:

A move that works in several Sveshnikov lines. If Black takes the pawn, it will lead to a quick loss.
Thorough Coverage for Thoroughly Energetic Chess
This course is anything but superficial. You’ll go deep, with every line explained in detail. You’re also provided with several alternatives so you can play according to your intuitive style.
In a near-scientific manner, opening theoretician IM Sebastian Mihajlov has selected the best possible lines, guided by both cutting-edge engines and practical human insights.
All major continuations after 2…e6 and 2…Nc6 are covered, with particular focus on the Sveshnikov, Taimanov, and Four Knights Variations.
But the repertoire doesn’t stop there: it also deals thoroughly with sidelines, including not only the O’Kelly and Hyper-Accelerated Dragon, but also rarer lines like 2…Qa5 and 2…f5.
But don’t let the 1670 lines in the course scare you! You’ll have 9 Quickstarter Chapters – each focusing on one of the major Sicilian variations – so you can get up and running fast. Simply choose the Siciliian that’s giving you the most trouble first, and work your way from there.
Focus on What’s Important
With such thorough coverage, it is important to direct your focus on understanding the general plans behind each approach. To help you with this, the author provides a concise summary at the end of every major section, highlighting the most important takeaways.
This will help you memorize recurring themes and ideas, like for example in the Four Knights Variation

In the Four Knights Variation, you have a clear plan to follow: push Black’s knight around with your pawns, use the d-file to your advantage, and if Black attacks, don’t be afraid to take your king for a walk!
The author also indicates when a specific line needs to be memorized. This is typically the case when things get more tactical. A good example is the Taimanov Variation:

Against the Taimanov, you’ll play 7.Qf3, White’s most testing approach. Black can easily go wrong here, for example with the move …Ba3 − but the continuation for White is not trivial!
The author of this masterpiece is IM Sebastian Mihajlov, a strong player known for his blitz expertise and engaging streams. His true specialty though is the opening.
That’s why he has gone out of his way to create The Energetic 1.e4. The repertoire is so comprehensive that it had to be split into multiple parts. If you’ve already studied the earlier sections, this one is a must-have continuation.
If you’re looking to counter 2…e6 and 2…Nc6.Sicilians and sidelines specifically, this course can be studied on its own as well. To get a consistent energetic repertoire against the Sicilian as a whole, you should consider adding Part 2 on d6-Sicilians to your arsenal as well.
