Derail 1.d4 with the Dzindzi-Indian Defense
Former World Champion Mikhail Tal once said “you must take your opponent into a deep dark forest where 2+2=5.” And if you’re looking for the ultimate opening to do that against 1.d4, International Master David Vigorito has the perfect surprise weapon for your arsenal: the Dzindzi-Indian.
The acclaimed author of Lifetime Repertoires: Symmetrical English returns to Chessable with a vicious defense against the queen’s pawn opening that is sure to shake your opponent out of their opening preparation and keep them on their toes the entire game.
Based on a King’s Indian – Nimzo-Indian hybrid developed by legendary grandmasters Roman Dzindzichashvili and Igor Ivanov, the Dzindzi-Indian sets tactical and positional landmines as early as move five – and keeps the fun rolling all game long.
It all starts with the moves 1.d4 g6 2.c4 Bg7 3.Nc3 c5 4.d5 Bxc3 5.bxc3 f5, making it a great fit in the repertoire of King’s Indian and Modern Defense players.

What this opening lacks in normalcy, it makes up for in practicality ten times over! Black will have a comfortable and fun game that only the most prepared 1.d4 players know how to handle:
♞ Take your opponent into the woods right out of the gate: as IM Vigorito will explain, the White side of this opening seldom appears in textbooks – meaning you’ll be keeping most of your opponents out of book and on their toes all game long
♞ Dominate the center: you’ll dominate the center with your early f5 and the strong e7-d6-c5 pawn chain, while your knights can hop to f6 and e5
♞Take free reign of both sides of the board: Black will not only have a long-term sitting duck on c3 to target, but also the kingside, where in most variations White must weaken it to get any play at all. Meanwhile, your king will often go to c7 while your pieces shoot down the h-, g-, and f-files!
♞Deny White any king safety: with the queenside shattered and White’s only play on the kingside, their king will have no safe spot to run. Yours will be perfectly safe behind your central pawn chain!
♞Enjoy unorthodox and rich middlegame structures: the middlegames resulting from this opening are intense! The strange pawn structure and piece placement are sure to generate some interesting games where White is unprepared and you’re having all the fun
You’ll get detailed coverage from IM Vigorito on all the critical lines, plus a dedicated chapter on illustrative games showing you how to navigate the interesting middlegame positions coming from this opening – if your opponent makes it that far, that is!
IM Vigorito earned his near 5-star rating on his other Chessable course for a reason – his compelling lines and clear explanations of the key ideas will have you playing the Dzindzi-Indian like Dzindzi himself.
So if you’re ready to derail 1.d4 with an opening your opponent will be hard-pressed to handle, get The Dzindzi-Indian today.

I bought this course with video few weeks ago (thanks to @JRHat for recommending it to me).

Decent course. Compared to his other courses, this course is relatively simple and faster to learn. Probably the nature of Grunfeld opening itself could be a reason.

he gives you basic principles that just works 90% of the situations – it sounded silly to me at first, but then it became a daily prayer
