And who better to introduce you to the sacrificial arts than Sweden’s highest-rated player.
Grandelius sports a peak FIDE rating of 2694, and a peak ranking of #44 in the world. He was a second on Team Carlsen as Magnus collected two of his classical World Champion titles.
Grandelius also scored podium finishes at the 2019 European Individual Championship, 2015 Abu Dhabi Masters, 2015 Swedish Championship, the 2010 World Youth Championships…
By Happily Giving up a Pawn or a Piece
for a Surge in Dynamics!
Even in his repertoires — featuring the Magnus Queen’s Gambit and the Classical Slav — Grandelius always finds a way to give up a pawn, an exchange, or even a full piece for tremendous compensation.
Like a 3-vs-1 “power play” right out of the opening…
Clear lines of sight leading to weak enemy pawns…
Or an unbreakable grip on key squares.
Simply put, Grandelius is your “role model” as far as sacrifices are concerned.
And through 2 hours and 47 minutes of video, he teaches you how to:
🎯 Weigh in on different positional and psychological factors, before ultimately deciding to sacrifice.
🎯 Snowball a two-move lead in the opening to an indefensible attack in the middlegame.
🎯 And keep up the pressure in the endgame, even after exchanging queens.
You’ll also pick up mental shortcuts to help you find the right move with minimal calculation. Discover:
🎯 How to drive a promising attacking position home. From inviting everyone to the party… backing enemy pieces against a wall… to corralling their king in the “killing zone.”
🎯 The main strategy for proving your advantage after an exchange sacrifice — and how it differs from a pawn sacrifice.
🎯 When to exchange pieces, even when down material.
Plus much more.
After watching the videos, the 25 MoveTrainer exercises drill your newfound sacrificial tools into your overall decision making. You’ll practice:
🎯 Combining intuition with concrete analysis… to ensure your sacrifices achieve the desired effect!
🎯 “Keeping your eyes on the ball.” So you avoid being tempted by explosive moves that throw away your lead.
🎯 Stopping the opponent from giving back their extra material, and freeing up their position.
🎯 Building your patience when down a pawn or two, so you avoid “cashing in” too early, and selling yourself short.
🎯 And… ensuring the opponent’s worst-placed piece stays out of the game. So you can power through the remaining defenders with your superior numbers!
We’re confident that after taking this crash course, you’ll be better equipped to recognize sacrifices in your games…
And nurse the compensation they provide into a crushing attack — or a decisive material advantage.

I appreciate the effort gone into it. It’s helped me become better at my openings and I’m looking forward to what he has next in store. Cheers.

I think many of these reviewers forget what it was like to be a beginner, or a casual player.

Now that I don’t need to invest much energy in the opening phase, I can concentrate on improving my middle and endgame play.

keep repeating basic principles annoying number of times (sometimes say it with a beard then later repeat it without the beard 😁)
