Bank on the Benko
with Winning Strategies from Beginning to Middlegame
The Benko Blueprint: From Theory to Practice is much more than an opening course. While it is a comprehensive repertoire against 1.d4 authored by a lifelong Benko Gambit player, it’s also a blueprint for dynamic, positional play in the middlegame.
Playing the Benko (1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 c5 3.d5 b5) doesn’t come naturally – you’ve got to really understand the concept of compensation.
Unlike more traditional gambits, the compensation received for material isn’t an immediate attack. What you’re going for is long-term positional pressure.
What really makes this Benko course stand out is how it teaches the overarching strategic elements of material sacrifices, counterplay, and particularly compensation.
You’ll trip up most club players playing White, but once you understand how to harness the dynamic, positional energy of the Benko, you’ll be ready to dominate 1.d4
Not only do you get to learn how to play this dynamic, fun, and aggressive opening, the middlegame concepts taught in this course are valuable for any player and apply to many middlegame strategies.
What you get inside:
♟ – A fun and dynamic opening with many interesting positions – in which you play for initiative early and create imbalances as early as move 2
♟ – A fresh innovation in the Benko – where you temporarily give away a second pawn to immediately challenge White’s center (4…cxb5 5.bxa6 e6)
♟ – A full chapter on “What is Compensation?” – in which you learn to objectively evaluate positions and determine whether a material sacrifice is worth the compensation gained

1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 c5 3.d5 b5 4. cxb5 a6 5.bxa6 e6!
The recommended mainline in the course… a rare and innovative way to play the Benko
♟ – A full repertoire against 1.d4 with dedicated Chapters on other common openings – such as the Trompowsky, the London System, and the Jobava London
Authored by a true Benko believer with Sam Shankland’s seal of approval
The author of this course, FM Dalton Perrine, is a lifelong Benko player and knows full well the types of positions that arise in Benko structures.
There is no better authority to guide you through the positional nuances and middlegame compensation obtained in this unique opening.

For taking all the fun out of my chess games. I never thought anybody would be cruel enough to make winning so easy that chess has become boring.

As a beginner it’s easy to get overwhelmed by big repertoires but this one has the perfect number of lines and yet,

In two recent wins, my opponents failed to follow the golden rules, making it easy for me to win the games.

he gives you basic principles that just works 90% of the situations – it sounded silly to me at first, but then it became a daily prayer

I’m still a fairly new adult learner and have looked at all the major courses and finally feel like I have an option that makes sense for my level and available time.

I have tried a few free and paid repertoire courses but I continued to face a challenge with them

I appreciate the effort gone into it. It’s helped me become better at my openings and I’m looking forward to what he has next in store. Cheers.

I’ve only reviewed all the black lines but I am liking the author’s approach of adding exercises after each chapter to make sure you are looking at the positions themselves rather than just routinely memorizing the lines without absorbing the content of his commentary.
