Yekaterinburg, Russia – From March 16 to April 5, 2020. Eight of the world’s finest players will slug it out in a double round-robin contest, fighting for the right to challenge the world champion.
Course will include exclusive Game of the Day analysis video by GM Pentala Harikrishna added after each round.
Fabiano Caruana, Ding Liren, Maxime Vachier-Lagrave, Wang Hao, Alexander Grischuk, Ian Nepomniatchi, Anish Giri, and Kirill Alekseenko will all do battle over the board in the most intense event in chess.

Only one will be left standing. Only one will be named The Challenger.
All the key instructive lessons – filed in one place
As the dogfight progresses, you can count on the participants to play amazing and instructive chess, pushing the boundaries of our great game.
You can also count on us to deliver the most instructive lessons from the Candidates 2020 tournament right here.
In this exclusive course, every participant in the Candidates tournament gets a dedicated chapter that includes an introduction to the player, their stats, and annotated games.
New tactics updated after every round
But the “meat and potatoes” of the course immediately follow: Strategy and tactics exercises taken from every round of the Candidates 2020 tournament. Exercises that train your ability to find and capitalize on winning opportunities.
Many of the exercises are standard tactics and combinations. Others, however, demand that you actively defend and counterattack.
In some cases, you must find the simplest winning idea, like pushing a queenside majority, or exchanging your way to an easily winning pawn endgame.
Enjoy the tournament – and learn from it!
Of course, you can always choose to follow this year’s Candidates tournament as you have other chess events. Maybe follow it with our friends at Chess24.com, the best chess broadcasting site in the world, with Chessable author Jan Gustafsson and some popcorn. Or, maybe just replay the games from round-by-round summaries.
