Introduction to the Course
This project presents a complete repertoire for White after:
1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 e6
The repertoire is structured into two courses:
✅ Part 1 – Covers Taimanov and Sicilian Four Knights
✅ Part 2 – Will be dedicated to the Kan Variation
This first course is built around a strategically rich yet easy-to-learn concept – the early move a3! Instead of diving into heavy theoretical battles, this approach allows White to dictate the game, avoid mainstream theory, and steer play into less-explored yet powerful positions.
Why Play a2-a3?
This universal setup works against multiple Sicilian variations and significantly reduces the theoretical workload for White. It gives flexibility, transpositional opportunities, and forces Black into unfamiliar territory.
The a2-a3 System Against the Taimanov
One of the key positions in our repertoire against the Taimanov arises after:
1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 e6 3.d4 cxd4 4.Nxd4 Nc6 5.a3

This flexible system works against all Sicilian setups based on 2…e6, allowing White to choose between aggressive and strategic plans depending on Black’s response. A typical approach includes Be3, Nc3, Qf3, and 0-0-0, often with f2-f4 to increase attacking chances. Alternatively, White can delay the development of the b1-knight and opt for a Maroczy-style setup with c2-c4, leading to a more positional struggle.
The a2-a3 Setup in the Sicilian Four Knights
A similar structure is highly effective in the Sicilian Four Knights, where the main tabiya arises after:
1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 e6 3.d4 cxd4 4.Nxd4 Nf6 5.Nc3 Nc6 6.a3

One of the greatest strengths of this setup is its transpositional nature. Often, White can transpose into Najdorf or Scheveningen structures, taking advantage of the universal a2-a3 approach. This means that by learning these lines, you are also developing a deeper understanding of the Open Sicilian as a whole, all while minimizing theoretical overload.
