Imposes Your Script From the First Move,
Challenges Your Opponents’ Prep,
and Creates Problems They’re Not Used to Solving.
If you want an unbalanced game to seek the victory at all costs, nothing beats the Alekhine Defense (1.e4 Nf6).
The brainchild of Fourth World Champion, Alexander Alekhine, it leads Black into the sharp and dynamic positions the attacking genius was known for.
For example, GM Magnus Carlsen famously used it to beat former world #1, GM Vesselin Topalov, at Linares. And it was also a favorite of uncompromising fighters like the legendary GM Victor Korchnoi (two-time World Championship Challenger) and GM Lev Alburt (three-time US Champion).
In essence, it’s a provocative opening that defies classical opening principles, moving the same piece several times in the first few moves, and luring White into occupying the center in the process, to then turn it into an unmissable attacking target!

The advance of the white pawns
makes them a target for the active black pieces.
Playing it requires a different mindset from more conventional openings; instead of seeking equality, you’ll be leading your opponent into uncertain territory, literally from the very first move.
That’s why it’s perfect for disorienting your club opponents and even surprising stronger players!
And learning it is now easier than ever:
Compact and Chaotic −
Alekhine’s Defense in Under 100 Lines
Grandmaster Yasser Quesada (2022 Cuban Champion, peak rating of 2620) and his brother, GM Yuniesky Quesada, (peak rating of 2655; former World Top 100) are already known for their excellent The Czech Benoni for Beginners.
In their second outing, they present you a double-edged repertoire guaranteed to catch your opponents off guard.
The idea for this course came about one year ago, when Yasser discovered some interesting new ways for Black in the main lines that make the Alekhine a point-scoring machine. Since then, he’s been playing it and teaching it to his students relentlessly.
The course begins with a special chapter on typical pawn structures, plans and ideas, piece-paths you must know, etc.
But the bulk of it consists of 10 chapters with all the theoretical coverage you need to successfully tackle both critical and secondary lines, always with a focus on absorbing the opening’s core principles, rather than memorizing raw lines.
As incredible as it sounds, all in less than 100 trainable variations!
But the beauty of the course is that it will not only enhance your understanding of the opening, but also of universal situations such as:
💥 Weaponizing your temporary space disadvantage through long-term central pressure

A typical situation: d4 and c4 concede the center to White,
but after Bg4 and Nc6, it’s unclear whether that is a source of pride or a concern.
💥 Undermining the center with well-timed pawn breaks

Ideally, we want to open the center before White castles.
Here against d5, our Knight will gain a stronghold on d4.
💥 Using tactical skirmishes to complete strategic goals

The surprising Nd5
forces the simplification of at least a couple of minor pieces,
which is to Black’s convenience…
