1.d4 According to Dreev – Fight the Slav Defense
GM Alexey Dreev and GM Pier Luigi Basso
We are excited to introduce the next chapter in the 1.d4 According to Dreev series—Fight the Slav Defense! In this course, GM Alexey Dreev and GM Pier Luigi Basso present a consistent, practical, and strategically sound repertoire for White after 1.d4 d5 2.c4 c6 3.Nf3 Nf6 4.g3.

Why the 4.g3 System?
As GM Dreev explains in his introduction, the 4.g3 approach is an ideal weapon against the Slav Defense. Unlike 4.Nc3, which requires extensive memorization, or 4.e3, which has become highly theoretical, 4.g3 allows White to enter flexible, well-structured positions that align seamlessly with our existing repertoire.
A Cohesive Repertoire That Builds on Previous Work
One of the greatest strengths of this course is its ability to ensure maximum consistency with the previous 1.d4 According to Dreev courses. By choosing 4.g3, we maintain the strategic integrity of the entire repertoire, making it easier to learn and apply in practice.
However, this approach also presents a unique challenge. While Units 1-3 of this course cover fresh theoretical material, analyzing Black’s main responses 4…Bg4, 4…Bf5, and 4…dxc4 followed by …g7-g6, the remaining units (4-7) transpose into positions that were already examined in our previous courses:
🔹 1.d4 According to Dreev – Fight the Grunfeld Defence
🔹 1.d4 According to Dreev – Play the Catalan – Part 1
🔹 1.d4 According to Dreev – Play the Catalan – Part 2
This means that while returning customers may recognize some familiar content, they will also benefit from a highly structured, easy-to-learn repertoire that seamlessly connects across multiple courses. New content in Units 1-3 includes over 3 hours of fresh video material, ensuring that every subscriber—whether new or returning—gains deep, cutting-edge insights into handling the Slav Defense.
What’s Inside?
✅ 7 Theoretical Units – Covering all key responses for Black
✅ 30 Interactive Test Positions – Reinforce your learning with practical exercises
✅ Memory Booster – Optimize retention of key plans and structures
✅ 15-Minute Repertoire Guide – A quick reference for efficient preparation
